About Dave
Thanks for visiting and taking an interest in my blog. I started this blog to share some of the knowledge and experience I’ve picked up over the years working in information security. Like many of you, I’ve got my areas of expertise - most specifically, web and data security.
I’ve spent a number of years working with different technologies and vendors (Cisco, CheckPoint, Microsoft, etc.) and currently work at Websense as director for Web and data security. I frequently write papers, present at conferences, and visit with customers and partners. In fact, in this year alone I’ve met with over 75 organizations interested in data loss prevention (DLP) technologies, and over 20 partners (everyone from resellers to technology partners).
I earned a bachelors degree from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California - Go Trojans!!!, and went on to receive a graduate degree in communications management and technology from the USC Annenberg School for Communication. I live in San Diego, CA with my wonderful wife, Athena - a professor at the University of San Diego.
So enough about me. Welcome to my blog. Feel free to add comments and ask questions.

p.s… as a general disclaimer I want to make sure everyone is aware that I work for a DLP vendor - Websense. Although it is not my intent to use my blog to market my company’s product, I plan to leverage any relevant content (most of which I have created/contracted) from my company, just as I plan to leverage any provided to me by third parties, some of whom may be competitors. So if you see a whitepaper or flash demo referenced on my site don’t be surprised if it’s got a logo from Websense, Symantec, or some other vendor.
p.p.s… This is my personal blog. The postings on this site are my own and do not necessarily represent those of my employer, Websense.
